The EBR METAL spiral duct machine winds 137 mm metal strip into spiral-seamed round duct from Ø100 to Ø1250 mm. Each tube is cut to the length you set, anywhere from 250 mm up to 6000 mm. Everything runs from a PLC touch screen. The cut-off at the end of the line leaves a burr-free edge, and in the catalogue name, Spiral Tube Former with Slitter (STF), that cut-off unit is the “slitter”. It has nothing to do with coil slitting. Setup is simple and operation is straightforward, with automatic angle adjustment and automatic lubrication built in.
General Features
- Fully automatic control through a PLC touch screen, easy setup and simple operation
- High-speed, burr-free cutting system cuts the finished tube to length (250–6000 mm)
- Diameter range Ø100–1250 mm, with 23 standard diameters
- Production speed depends on duct diameter (see the speed table below)
- Three machine types: banded type (two options) and molded type
- Strip width 137 mm, sheet thickness 0.5–1.2 mm (coated) and 0.4–0.7 mm (chrome)
- Comes with its own coil holder (decoiler) with a coil carrying capacity of 750 kg, separate from the 5-ton Decoiler (UCR)
- Automatic angle adjustment, greasing and loading
- 2379 cold work tool steel for high resistance to abrasion and pressure
- Automatic lubrication with a volatile oil that leaves no stains

Where It Fits in Your Duct Line
As a spiral duct forming machine, the STF makes the straight runs of a round duct system. Elbows for those runs are built on the Round Duct Elbow Machine, and where round duct meets rectangular duct, the Rectangular to Round Converter forms the square-to-round transition. For longitudinal-seam pipe instead of spiral seam, see the Pipe Lock Seamer. How round and rectangular production fit together is shown on the HVAC Duct Production Line page.
For the whole process, from strip edges to the spiral lock seam and how sections are joined, read our guide How Spiral Duct Is Made.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which diameters can the spiral duct machine make?
Ø100 to Ø1250 mm, with 23 standard diameters. Tube length can be set from 250 mm to 6000 mm.
Is the “slitter” a coil slitter?
No. On this machine the slitter is the cut-off unit at the end of the line. It cuts the finished tube to the set length with a high-speed, burr-free cutting system.
What strip and coil does it take?
Strip 137 mm wide, 0.5–1.2 mm thick for coated sheet and 0.4–0.7 mm for chrome. The machine comes with its own coil holder, with a coil carrying capacity of 750 kg. It is supplied with the STF and is separate from the 5-ton Decoiler (UCR).
How fast does it produce duct?
Production speed depends on duct diameter. At 0.5–1.2 mm thickness it is 14 m/min at Ø100, 2.8 m/min at Ø500, 1.4 m/min at Ø1000 and 1.2 m/min at Ø1250.
What utilities does it need?
A 380 V, 3-phase, 50–60 Hz supply for 10.5 kW total motor power, and compressed air at 6–8 bar (approx. 15 L/min).
