Spot Welders and Auxiliary Equipment for HVAC Duct Shops

Duct spot welding machines, flange spot welders, compressors, air dryers, UPS and voltage regulators supplied with EBR METAL duct lines. Request a quote.

Flanges have to be welded. Stable power, clean compressed air and the right hand tools keep production running, and a duct line needs all of them alongside its main machines. If you wish, we can supply this equipment, from a duct spot welding machine to an air compressor, together with your EBR machines. For a new duct shop, we also help you plan the line, so you work with one supplier from planning to delivery.

Duct Spot Welding Machines

Rectangular duct sections are joined in one of two ways. In a self-flanged duct, the flange is rolled from the duct wall on a TDF Flange Forming Machine, and no welding is needed. With separate flanges, the profiles are cut to length on the Flange Cutting Machine and then fixed to the duct. That is where a spot welder comes in.

Spot welding is a resistance welding method. Two electrodes clamp the overlapping sheets, and an electric current through the contact point heats the metal until it fuses into a small weld nugget. There is no filler wire or gas, which suits thin galvanized sheet.

We supply two types of spot welding equipment for sheet metal ductwork:

  • Spot welding machine for ducts. Spot welds flanges and sheet metal parts onto air ducts.
  • Vertical flange spot welding machine. A vertical spot welding machine for welding flanges and fittings to duct sections.

Capacity, working reach, power supply and cooling are specified for the selected model in your quotation. Send us the materials, sheet thicknesses and part sizes you work with, and we will propose a suitable machine.

Shop Utilities and Hand Tools

These items can be supplied with your line:

  • 15 kW servo automatic voltage regulator. Holds the supply voltage steady where the grid fluctuates, which protects motors, drives and control electronics.
  • 3 kW UPS. Keeps control electronics powered through short outages and gives time for a clean shutdown.
  • Air compressor. Supplies the compressed air your pneumatic machines run on. Tank size and output are chosen to suit those machines.
  • Air dryer. Takes moisture out of the compressed air before it reaches valves and cylinders.
  • Hand shears, large. For cutting sheet by hand at the bench or on site.
  • Notching snips. For small notches and trimming that are not worth a machine setup.

Which EBR Machines Need Compressed Air?

The auto duct lines run without compressed air, and so do the Pittsburgh lock former, the duct seam closer (SCM), the duct flanging machine, the plasma sheet feeders and the cut-to-length line. Air is needed on the Flange Cutting Machine, Pittsburgh Seam Closer, TDF Corner Machine, CNC Plasma Cutting Table, Rectangular to Round Converter, Round Duct Elbow Machine, Spiral Duct Machine and Pipe Lock Seamer, and each of those pages lists its air pressure and consumption. When we plan your line, we work out the total air demand with you and size the compressor and air dryer to match.

Plan a Complete Line

Tell us which ducts you produce, your sheet sizes and your production target. We will put together the machines and the duct shop equipment you need, starting with the decoiler and ending with the spot welder and compressor. The HVAC Duct Production Line page shows how the machines fit together, or you can browse all duct machines.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a duct spot welding machine?

A resistance spot welder used in duct shops to fix flanges and sheet metal parts to duct sections. The vertical flange spot welding machine is a variant that welds flanges and fittings to duct sections in a vertical setup.

Does EBR METAL manufacture spot welders?

No. We source spot welders, compressors and similar equipment from our solution partners and supply them with our lines.

Do I need a spot welder if I make self-flanged duct?

Not for the flange itself. On self-flanged duct the flange is rolled from the duct wall on the TDF Flange Forming Machine and the corners are pressed in on the TDF Corner Machine. You need a spot welder when you fit separate flange profiles.

What are the specifications of the spot welders?

They depend on the model we supply for your job, and the quotation states them. Tell us your materials, sheet thicknesses and part sizes, and we will propose a machine.

Does EBR METAL support the equipment it supplies?

Yes. EBR METAL sells and supports all the equipment it supplies with its lines.

Can I order the auxiliary equipment on its own?

Yes, on request. If you need a compressor, a spot welder or other shop equipment without a new EBR line, we help you source it.

What size of air compressor does a duct shop need?

That depends on which pneumatic machines run at the same time. The auto duct lines need none. The flange cutting machine, Pittsburgh seam closer, TDF corner machine and plasma cutting table do. We work out the total air demand with you and size the compressor to your machines.

What is the delivery time for supplied equipment?

The quotation confirms the date for your order.

Not sure which machine you need?

Tell us your duct types, sheet thickness range and production target, and we will recommend a setup.
